Class Order And Structure

Classes are five weeks long with a one week break between classes. 

Church leadership certificate requires first six classes below. 
Pastoral ministry certificate requires all twelve listed classes. 

English Primer (2-week free class)

Paper writing, APA, Citations, Etc.

The Bible will be used extensively as a primary text in each class. 

101 Spiritual Formation

Book “Celebration of Discipline”, Richard Foster

Syllabus

This class will familiarize the students with the common and various forms of spiritual discipline

highlighted in scripture. Survey, basic understanding, and application of the spiritual disciplines

will be explored and practiced. A plan for personal devotion as well as exploration of personal

strengths and struggles will be included.

102 Exegetics / Public Presentation

Books “God’s Top 40”, Jeff Greco

"FORRMAL” Bible Study Method Workbook (included), Tabor College

Syllabus

This class will familiarize the students with study and presentation techniques for the scriptures

and ministry in general.

 

103 Bible 1 – NT Acts and Epistles

Book ”Echoes of Scripture in the Letters of Paul”, Richard B. Hays

Syllabus

This course will familiarize the students with the Book of Acts and the Epistles

in the New Testament.

 

104 Leadership / Church Organizational Dynamics

Book “Comeback Churches”, Ed Stetzer and Mike Dodson

Syllabus

This course will familiarize students with biblical leadership structures in the local church as well

as how that leadership structure can effectively fulfill the biblical mission of the local church.

105 Missions

Book “Revolution in World Missions”, K.P. Yohannan

Syllabus

This class will familiarize students with the importance of missions in the kingdom as well as the

local church considering church growth, giving, and member involvement. Students will also

develop a biblical understanding of proper mission development and support.

106 Bible 2 – NT Gospels and Revelation

Book "Dancing with Wolves While Feeding the Sheep", Ray S. Anderson

Syllabus

This course will familiarize the students with the gospels and the book of Revelation

in the New Testament.

107 Leadership 2 – Practical Church Management

Book “Talent is Never Enough”, John Maxwell

Syllabus

 

108 Bible 3 – OT History (Genesis – Nehemiah)

Book "The Bible Jesus Read", Philip Yancey

Syllabus

This course is designed to familiarize the students with the Old Testament historical books.

Survey, basic understanding, construction, and application of this part of the scriptures will be

explored and practiced.

 

109 Bible 4 – OT Wisdom and Prophets

Book “The Prophetic Imagination”, Walter Brueggemann

Syllabus

This will familiarize the students with the Old Testament Wisdom Literature and the Major and

Minor Prophets. Survey, basic understanding, construction, and application of this part of the

scriptures will be explored and practiced.

110 Ethics/Philosophy/Apologetics

        Book Christian Theology, A Case Method Approach – Robert A. Evans and Thomas D. Parker

        Syllabus

2 Individualized Study Tracks

Introduced at 6-month mark, completed prior to finish

111 Practicum

Syllabus

40 hours of service at a local church

Write up a plan for the hours

Locate a mentor/sponsor/supervisor

112 Major Project

Syllabus

Design a project or presentation specific to your field

Examples – Design and implement curriculum, Organize and implement a retreat

 

Write a 6-8 page research paper
