The Crossroads School of Ministry is set to launch its first cohorts in early 2023. The School of Ministry is

an idea that took shape over many years and grew out of a missional mindset that has been the

foundation of leadership at Crossroads since its inception. The Kingdom minded elders at Crossroads

understand that helping all local churches will be good for God’s kingdom. Several conditions observed

in the local church at large factored into development …

• Church leaders and volunteer or part time staff often lack the tools or understanding of biblical leadership concepts to move churches forward or actively revitalize struggling congregations.

• As church membership and offering declines as a whole nationally, the ability for people called to ministry to receive quality training is hampered by time and cost.

• Many institutions devoted to training pastors and church leaders are shifting their focus away from these core disciplines as a means of survival. Many other institutions focus too much time on doctrine and denominational polity and less on practical biblical application and leadership.

• There is a shortage of comprehensive, time sensitive, cost sensitive, ministry training in the marketplace.

• Churches in our context (Western Culture) are focused on multiplication, but not always on training.

• Acts 1:8 reminds us that we need to be doing missions locally and regionally as well as internationally. The local church is the method for that ministry to our culture.

When these factors met the missional mindset of the leaders at Crossroads, the Crossroads School of

Ministry was born. A way to train ministers and leaders for service that follows a “trade school” model

was needed. Trade schools are time sensitive (fast), cost effective (cheaper), and focused specifically on

the topic at hand (comprehensive practical ministry focus). We are excited about partnering with local

congregations and believers to make a difference through quality leadership training.
